Devon in the 1920s – Building a new Understanding of our Past

Three years ago members of Devon History Society and other interested researchers joined together in a research collaboration to explore what really happened in Devon’s forgotten decade, the 1920s. What happened to the ex-servicemen? How did employment change? Was this truly the heyday of local government and the death of the squirearchy? What did the raising of the school-leaving age achieve? What happened as numbers of motor vehicles on the roads increased?
